(1 Cor 3:10-15)  According to the grace [the special endowment for my task] of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation [of Jesus Christ], and another [man] buildeth thereon [Apollos]. But let every man take heed [work carefully and diligently for truth, accuracy, and precision] how he buildeth thereupon. For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

1.       (Isa 28:16)  Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.

(1 Cor 3:12-15)  Now if any man build [labor] upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble [good and evil, arranged from the greatest to the least, respectively by group]; Every man's work shall be made manifest [shining, apparent; public /// to lighten: be seen, shine /// luminousness: fire, light]: for the day [of reckoning, of the Lord’s return] shall declare it, because it shall be revealed [to take off the cover, i.e. disclosed] by fire [judgment]; and the fire shall try [test: examine (test and critically appraise the character and worth of)] every man's work of what sort it is. If any man's work abide [remains (if any product of his efforts whatever survives this test)] which he hath built thereupon [the foundation of Jesus Christ], he shall receive a reward. If any man's work shall be burned [under this test, fiery examination], he shall suffer loss [of what was burned, thereby losing his reward]: but he himself shall be saved [why?]; yet so as by fire [but only as one who has passed through the fire].

1.       (James 2:20)  But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

2.       (2 Cor 5:7)  (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

3.       gold, silver, precious stones = good doctrines (of God): nonflammable, indestructible (eternal). Given in descending degrees of malleability (softness) and tractability, i.e. 100 fold, 60 fold, 30 fold. Hidden, must be searched out and dug for (works) in faith (i.e. gold-miners), “faith without works is dead” (James 2:20, 26). Reflect or radiate the eternal light (glory) of Jesus Christ in this life; shining, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” (Mat 5:16).

4.       malleable = Dict: 1. capable of being extended or shaped by hammering or by pressure with rollers. 2. adaptable or tractable.

5.       tractable = Dict: 1. easily managed, or docile, as persons, their dispositions, etc. 2. that may be easily handled or dealt with, as things; malleable.

6.       wood, hay, stubble = false doctrines (of Satan): flammable, destructible (temporal). Given in descending order of height (pride); above the ground (no works required) in sight; the evil aspect apparent only to “the servants of the householder” (Mat 13:25-27). Do not reflect, radiate or shine light (His glory) in this life, but do so momentarily in judgmental death “For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.” (Rom 14:11).
