(Gen 1:1-5)  In the beginning God created the heaven [a place of good] and the earth [a place of evil]. And the earth [ground, wilderness] was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face [syn: countenance] of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light [i.e. God called forth light out of darkness]: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light [good] from the darkness [evil]. And God called [named, as in “personalized”] the light Day [good: Christ Jesus; the tree of life], and the darkness he called Night [evil: Lucifer Satan; the tree of knowledge of good and evil]. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

1.       without form = Heb: to lie waste; a desolation (of surface), i.e. desert; fig. a worthless thing; adv. in vain:--confusion, empty place, nothing, (thing of) nought, vain, vanity, waste, wilderness.

2.       void = Heb: an undistinguishable ruin.

3.       Commentary: “without form, and void” = This is a description of a thoroughly worthless thing, a thing of undistinguishable ruin, a thing of confusion and chaos, a thing of absolutely of no value to God. In contrast, something “with form” would therefore hold the opposite representation of order and value to God.

4.      darkness = Heb: fig. misery, destruction, death, ignorance, sorrow, wickedness /// to be dark (as withholding light):--cause darkness, be dim, hide. [Lucifer Satan: Isa 14:9-20; Ezek 28:11-19]

5.      deep = Heb: (usually fem.); an abyss (as a surging mass of water), espec. the deep (the main sea or the subterranean water-supply):--deep (place), depth /// to make an uproar, or agitate greatly:--destroy, move, make a noise, put, ring again.

6.      light = Heb: illumination or luminary (in every sense, including lightning, happiness, etc.):--bright, clear, + day, light (-ning), morning, sun /// to be (make) luminous:--X break of day, glorious, kindle, (be, en-, give, show) light (-en, -ened), set on fire, shine. [Christ Jesus]

7.       Commentary: “Let there be light:” The question that is not clearly answered here in Gen 1:1-5 is did God form light out of the darkness, or did God create light? However…

8.       (Isa 45:7)  I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things. [i.e. light was called forth and formed from the Lucifer aspect of the fallen angel who is mingled Lucifer (light-good)  Satan (darkness-evil)]

9.       form = Heb: (through the squeezing into shape); to mould into a form; espec. as a potter; fig. to determine (i.e. form a resolution):-- X earthen, fashion, form, frame, make (-r), potter, purpose.

10.   (Gen 2:7)  And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground [earth (evil)], and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.


(Gen 2:8)  And the LORD God planted [formed] a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.

1.       planted = Dict: to put or set in the ground for growth, as seeds, young trees, etc.

2.       garden = Heb: a garden (as fenced) /// to hedge about, i.e. (gen.) protect:--defend. [from who?]

3.       Eden = Heb: pleasure:--delicate, delight, pleasure /// to be soft or pleasant; fig. and reflex. to live voluptuously:--delight self.

4.       formed = Heb: (through the squeezing into shape); to mould into a form; espec. as a potter; fig. to determine (i.e. form a resolution):-- X earthen, fashion, form, frame, make (-r), potter, purpose.

Commentary: The Garden of Eden is the archetype (the original type) pre-figuration of the tabernacle of Moses. From His tabernacle throne (the Most Holy Place) room (the Holy Place), the LORD God sowed, “planted” (a much more weighty and emphatic word), a heavenly garden (fenced) outside the covering tabernacle of His dwelling and eastward into the world (the courtyard of the tabernacle). The Garden of Eden is an earthly extension of heaven; “an hedge” (Job 1:10) formed on earth for man’s formation, protection, and restraint; a heavenly extension of God’s holiness on this earth. The Garden of Eden (tabernacle courtyard) is intentionally designed to receive a portion of its sustenance from the sun (light: good), representing Christ Jesus who, in another line of related metaphoric thought is the tree of life. And the Garden of Eden is also intentionally designed to stand upon (victory) and be sown into the earth (wild: evil), representing Lucifer Satan who, in another line of related metaphoric thought is the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

The tabernacle and tabernacle courtyard (the whole a type of the body of Jesus Christ) has no floor, but is firmly attached to and into the earth (Heb: wilderness; fig: rebellion, disobedience, and bitterness, i.e. sin) by driven “pins” (Heb: nails: Exo 27:19). J Do you see the picture of the cross of our sin? Thus, as designed, the Garden of Eden receives another portion of its sustenance FROM the earth (Heb: wilderness; fig: rebellion, disobedience, and bitterness, i.e. sin).


Commentary: Why did God do this? Because God’s purpose is to form a new thing in the earth, and God is using the opposing forces of Christ Jesus and Lucifer Satan as instruments toward that purpose. Our God is a consuming fire; therefore so too are Christ Jesus and the Holy Spirit. For those of us who have been “chosen” by God (John 15:16), the spiritual seed of the tree of life was “planted” into us upon our born again (Gk: born from above) event, and that seed of life is growing and consuming the tree of knowledge of good and evil, the natural seed of death that we were all first born with and have inherited from our ancestors each successive generation from Adam and Woman; that same evil seed which originated with Lucifer Satan.

In the entire universe that God has created and everything that He has formed or made, there is only one thing that that can love God. God is forming man into a new thing that will unconditionally love (Gk: agapao) Him, and fellowship with Him eternally. Praise God. Thank you Lord.

1.       (Isa 54:16)  Behold, I have created the smith [(black) smith, carpenter: Christ Jesus] that bloweth the coals [unsaved men: the wood of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil] in the fire, and that bringeth forth an instrument [saved men: the Sword of the Lord] for his work; and I have created the waster [Lucifer Satan] to destroy.

2.       smith = Heb: a fabricator of any material:--artificer, (+) carpenter, craftsman, engraver, maker, + mason, skilful, (+) [black] smith, worker, workman.

3.       (Isa 43:19-21)  Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. The beast of the field shall honour me, the dragons and the owls: because I give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen. This people have I formed for myself; they shall show forth my praise.

4.       (Jer 31:22)  How long wilt thou go about, O thou backsliding daughter? for the LORD hath created a new thing in the earth, A woman [the church, the bride of Christ, His wife] shall compass a man [Jesus Christ].

5.       Commentary: How exactly shall a woman “compass a man?” Please observe the “hangings” that compass the courtyard of the tabernacle (the Body of Christ Jesus). On each “side” (Heb: mouth) of the courtyard to the south, north, west, and east (excluding the gate) are “hangings of fine twined linen (Heb: bleached stuff, i.e. white)” (Exo 27:9-15), representing the white robe of righteousness that “His wife” (Rev 19:7,8) is arrayed in, clinging to Him. These sides (mouths) issue forth in agapao love the praises of Him who is the precious Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
