(Gen 1:1-5)  In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.   And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.  And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

(Gen 1:1-5)  In the beginning God [Heb: 'elohiym; (plural), gods] [God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit] created [into existence] the heaven and the earth [Heb: wilderness]. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face [Heb: the countenance] [anthropomorphism] of the deep [Heb: (usually feminine) an abyss (as a surging mass of water)]. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light [and out of the darkness of Mary (Heb: rebelliousness, bitterness, and disobedience) came forth Jesus. We are the earth, “the dust of the ground” (Gen 2:7). After the new birth of salvation, out of the darkness of our natural man comes forth the light of Jesus]. And God saw [Heb: discerned] the [nature, character, personality, the spirit of] light, that it was good [Heb: illuminating] [symbolic of life]: and God divided [Heb: separated, severed (out), X utterly] the light from the darkness [Heb: withholding light, cause darkness] [symbolic of death]. And God called the light Day [Heb: to be hot; a day (as the warm hours)], and the darkness he called Night [a twist (away of the light), fig. adversity] [perversion]. And the evening and the morning were the first day [the first day was the establishment of the“sure foundation” (Isa 28:16) of the spiritual house of God which shall reach to Heaven.

1.      without form = Heb: to lie waste; a desolation (of surface), i.e. desert; fig. a worthless thing; adv. in vain: confusion, empty place, (thing of) nought, vain, vanity, waste, wilderness.

2.      void = Heb: (empty); a vacuity, i.e. (superficially) an undistinguishable ruin. [a wasteland].

3.      darkness = Heb: dark; fig. misery, destruction, death, ignorance, sorrow, wickedness: night /// to be dark (as withholding light); to darken: be black, be (make) cause darkness, hide.

a.      Commentary: darkness = please note that “withholding light” is the opposite action of putting forth light, of beaming “good” (illumination). The opposite of “good” is “bad” (Heb: evil).  Thus, while the “light” represents Jesus Christ, the “darkness” represents Satan.

4.      Commentary: moved = is an implicit action word herein contextually indicating “life.”

a.      Mary = Heb: Miryam; rebellious /// bitterness, i.e. (fig.) rebellion; concr. bitter, or rebellious:--bitter, (most) rebel (-ion, -lious) /// to be bitter (or unpleasant); (fig.) to rebel (or resist; to provoke):--bitter, change, be disobedient, disobey, grievously, provocation, provoke (-ing), (be) rebel (against, -lious).

5.      light = Heb: illumination or luminary (in every sense, including lightning, happiness, etc.): bright, clear, + day, light (-ning), morning, sun.

a.      (John 8:12)  Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light [Gk: (to shine or make manifest, espec. by rays); luminousness: fire] of the world [Gk: kosmos; universe]: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of [eternal] life. [rays = sent ones (ambassadors); beams of light, i.e., messages]

b.     (Mat 5:14)  Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

6.      good = Heb: towb; good (as an adj.) in the widest sense; used likewise as a noun, both in the masc. and the fem., (good, a good or good thing, a good man or woman; the good, goods or good things, good men or women), also as an adv. (well):--beautiful, best, better, bountiful, cheerful, at ease, X fair (word), (be in) favour, fine, glad, good (deed, -lier, liest, -ly, -ness, -s), graciously, joyful, kindly, kindness, liketh (best), loving, merry, X most, pleasant, + pleaseth, pleasure, precious, prosperity, ready, sweet, wealth, welfare, (be) well ([-favoured]).

a.      (1 Pet 2:9) But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light [Gk: (to shine or make manifest, espec. by rays); luminousness (in the widest application)]:

b.      (2 Cor 4:3,4)  But if our gospel [Gk: good message] be hid [Gk: covered up], it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world [Gk: aion] [Satan] hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine [Gk: to beam forth /// a ray of light] unto them.

7.      Commentary: good = In the sense of spiritual values, things that do not move of themselves are not good; in the darkness, nothing moves. In the absence of light, nothing moves.

a.      perverse = Dict: 1. willfully determined or disposed to go counter to what is expected or desired; contrary. 2. wayward; cantankerous. 3. persistent or obstinate in what is wrong. 4. turned away from what is right, good, or proper; wicked.

b.      perverted = Dict: 1. changed to or being of an unnatural or abnormal kind. 2. turned from what is right; wicked; misguided; misapplied; distorted.

8.      (Psa 127:1)  A Song of degrees for Solomon. Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep [Heb: to hedge about, guard, protect] the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.
