Chapter 82 |

FOR
TRUE CHRISTIANS, IT IS NOT “IF” YOU DRINK THE WATER, BUT “HOW”
THAT
WILL UNALTERABLY DEFINE YOUR FUTURE ETERNAL LIFE

Preface Commentary:
The great tribulation period is invoked
for the purging (“two parts shall be cut off and die”) of two parts (two
thirds) of all Christians from the body of Christ because of their
unbelief (“Whosoever is fearful and afraid, let him return, and depart early
from mount Gilead” Judg 7:3). The remaining and believing Christian third part
(one third) consisting entirely of the true body of Christ will be tested
(“bring them down unto the water, and I
[Jehovah] will try them for
thee there” Judg 7:4), testing their qualifications
for their eternal position in Heaven by investigating not “if”
they drank the water of the Holy Spirit (a
previously decided issue), but, of
huge life-changing significance and pertinent to every seeing eye and listening
ear, “how” they drank.
THE DAY OF THE LORD COMETH
(THE OVERVIEW)
THE BURNING FIERY FURNACE OF GREAT TRIBULATION
(Zec
13:7-9) Awake, O sword, against my
shepherd, and against the man that is my fellow, saith the LORD of hosts: smite
the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered: and I will turn mine hand upon
the little ones. And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the
LORD, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left
therein. And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them
as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my
name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The
LORD is my God.
(Zec
13:7-9) Awake, O sword
[“the Word of God” (Eph 6:17; Heb: 4:12) paring and pruning incorrect
doctrine], against my shepherd [Heb:
pastor], and against the man
that is my fellow, saith the LORD of hosts: smite
the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered: and I will turn mine hand upon
the little ones. And it shall come to pass, that
in all the land, saith the LORD, two parts [two
thirds of all Christians] therein shall be cut off and die
[in the burning fiery furnace] [i.e., nominal, professing but
non-believing Christians]; but the third
[part, true confessing believing Christians] shall be left
therein [Example: the believing
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in “the midst of the burning fiery furnace”
Dan 3:23, “upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their
head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed
on them” Dan 3:27; and Psa 91]. And I will bring
the third part through the
fire [of great tribulation;
Gideon’s 10,000 (every one of whom who drank the water of the Holy Spirit) who
believed God and remained, excluding the 22,000 who did not believe God (did not
drink the water of the Holy Spirit) and went back to their homes and eventual
death], and
will refine them as silver
is refined [the metal signifying redemption]
[“every one that boweth down upon his knees to drink” Judg 7:5, the 9,700
Israelite warriors], and will try them as gold is tried [the
metal signifying the purity of God] [“Every one that lappeth of the water with
his tongue” Judg 7:5, the 300 Israelite warriors]: they shall call
on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they
shall say, The LORD is my God.
1.
refine them = Heb: to fuse (metal), i.e. refine:--melt, pure, purge away,
try.
2.
try them = Heb: to test (espec. metals); to investigate:--examine, prove,
tempt, try (trial).
3.
(1 Pet 5:8) Be sober [Gk: abstain from wine] [be not intoxicated], be vigilant
[Gk: keep awake, be watchful]; because your adversary the devil,
as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour
[Gk: to drink down: swallow up]:
THE DAY OF THE LORD COMETH
(THE DETAILS)
(Zec 14:1,2)
Behold, the day of the LORD cometh,
and thy spoil [Heb: booty] shall be divided in the midst of thee.
For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle;
and the city shall be taken, and the houses
rifled [Heb: plundered, spoiled],
and the women ravished [Heb: to
copulate: lie with]; and half of the city shall go forth into
captivity, and the residue of the people shall
not be cut off from the city.
(Zec 14:3-5)
Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as
when he fought in the day of battle [“The
sword of the LORD, and of Gideon” Judg 7:18,20].
And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives [Heb:
an olive (as yielding illuminating oil)], which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives
shall cleave [Heb: divide] [i.e..
the continental rift running north and south] in the midst thereof
toward the east and toward the west, and there
shall be a very great valley; and half
of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. And
ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains;
for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee,
like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and
the LORD my God shall come [the second
coming], and all the saints with thee.
THE ACTUAL COMING OF THE LORD
(Zec 14:6-11)
And it shall come to pass in that day,
that the light shall not be clear, nor dark:
But it shall be one day which shall be known to the LORD, not day, nor
night: but it shall come to pass, that at evening time it shall be light. And
it shall be in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem;
half of them toward the former sea [the
Dead Sea, the Salt Sea], and half of them toward the hinder sea
[the Mediterranean Sea]: in summer and in winter shall it be. And
the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one
LORD, and his name one. All the land shall
be turned as a plain from Geba to Rimmon south of Jerusalem: and it shall be
lifted up, and inhabited in her place, from Benjamin's gate unto the place of
the first gate, unto the corner gate, and from the tower of Hananeel unto the
king's winepresses. And men shall dwell in it [and thus produce families],
and there shall be no more utter destruction;
but Jerusalem shall be safely inhabited.
THE LAST DESTROYING PLAGUE
(NUCLEAR WARFARE)
(Zec 14:12-15)
And this shall be the plague
[Heb: slaughter] wherewith the LORD will smite all the people that have
fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand
upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their
tongue shall consume away in their mouth. And
it shall come to pass in that day, that a great tumult
[Heb: trouble] [i.e., a great tribulation] from
[allowed by] the LORD shall be
among them; and they shall lay hold every one on the hand of his neighbour, and
his hand shall rise up against the hand of his
neighbour [“and the LORD set every man's sword against his fellow” Judg
7:22]. And Judah also shall fight at Jerusalem;
and the wealth of all the heathen round about shall be gathered together,
gold, and silver, and apparel, in great abundance. And so shall be the
plague of the horse, of the mule, of the camel, and of the ass, and of all
the beasts that shall be in these tents, as this plague.
THE FEAST OF TABERNACLES
(THE FRUIT HARVEST)
(Zec
14:16-21) And it shall come to
pass, that every one that is left [survives]
of all the nations which came
against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the
King, the LORD of hosts,
and to keep the feast of tabernacles.
And it shall be, that whoso will not come up
of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of
hosts, even upon them shall be no rain [which
causes famine which causes the death of plants and animals, and thus allows for
no sacrifices for the LORD]. And
if the family of Egypt [the historic land of
the unsaved] go not up, and come not, that have no rain; there
shall be the plague [nuclear
destruction], wherewith the LORD
will smite the heathen that come not up to
keep the feast of tabernacles. This shall
be the punishment of Egypt, and the
punishment of all nations that come not
up to keep the feast of tabernacles.
In that day shall there be upon the bells of the horses, HOLINESS UNTO
THE LORD; and the pots in the LORD'S house
shall be like the bowls before the altar. Yea, every pot in Jerusalem and in
Judah shall be holiness unto the LORD of hosts:
and all they that sacrifice shall come and take of them, and seethe
therein [unspecified sacrifices]:
and in that day there shall be no more the Canaanite [Heb:
peddlers, merchants] in the house of the LORD of hosts.
1.
Commentary:
“the feast of tabernacles” = is the seventh and final feast of the religious
year, a week-long festival in September-October celebrating ingathering
the fruit harvest (symbolically
celebrating ingathering us, we are the “fruit”), consisting of “corn and
wine” (Deut 16:13; i.e., wheat and grapes, both biblical symbols of us), while
living for that festival week in booths or huts made of tree limbs and palm
branches, commemorating the forty years of wilderness wandering when the Hebrews
lived in temporary shelters, and offering unspecified sacrifices.
2.
Canaanite = Heb: a merchant, a trader; peddler, trafficker (the
Canaanites standing for their neighbors the Ishmaelites [modern day Muslims],
who conducted mercantile caravans) /// humiliated.
