(Ruth 2:17,18)  [Review: the previous oral exegesis of these two verses is located at www.tabernacleofmoses.org and was delivered on 12-09-07 entitled “Tribulation”] //// So she [Ruth] gleaned [picked up, gathered (the seeds/saints)] in the field [“let me glean and gather” (Heb: assemble) Ruth 2:7] until even, and beat out [to knock out of, threshed (a type of the tribulation)] that she had gleaned: and it was about an ephah of barley. And she took it up, and went into the city: and her mother in law [Naomi] saw what she had gleaned: and she brought forth, and gave to her that she had reserved [from her lunch meal as “she sat beside the reapers”: Ruth 2:14] after she was sufficed [full: satisfied] [“she did eat, and was sufficed” Ruth 2:14].

1.       Commentary: At this point in the narrative, Ruth is a type of all born again Gentile believers (us), and she is herein gleaning (Heb: picking up), on one level of understanding, the Word of God and gathering (Heb: assembling) it into correct doctrine. On another level of understanding, Ruth, as an equal and companion of the angels (“the reapers are the angels” Mat 13:39), is gleaning people, within whom dwells the living Word of God. In this she is most wonderfully gleaning (Heb: picking up) that part of their soul which has been transformed by the renewing of their minds into spirit, i.e. she is gleaning (Heb: picking up) that part of their soul which has been transformed into the living Word of God, and gathering (Heb: assembling) it into the corporate Body of Christ. Extra-biblically, theologians have themselves named this process “RAPTURE,” and incorrectly placed a definite article “THE” before it as if this on-going process were one climatic event, when in fact the word RAPTURE best describes a series of generally continuous same-kind events (raptures, i.e. perhaps revelations). We are now being RAPTURED, as our mind is now being renewed (Rom 12:2).

a.       rapture = Dict: 1. ecstatic joy or delight. 2. an utterance or expression of ecstatic delight. 3. the carrying of a person to another place or sphere of existence.

b.       rapt = Dict: 1. deeply engrossed or absorbed: rapt in thought. 2. transported with emotion; enraptured: rapt with joy. 3. carried off to another place, sphere of existence.

2.       (Rom 12:1,2)  I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to [the same pattern as] this world [Gk: aion]: but be ye transformed [metamorphoo; “metamorphosed” transformed, changed, transfigured] by the renewing [renovation /// restoration] of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

3.       (John 16:33)  These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation [which results in “transformation” within the cocoon of your body]: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

a.       cocoon = Thesaurus: noun: shell, case, bubble, nest, coat. verb: insulate, protect, cushion, envelop, wrap, isolate, shelter.

b.       tribulation = Gk: thlipsis, thlip'-sis; pressure:--affliction, anguish, burdened, persecution, trouble /// to crowd:--afflict, narrow, throng, suffer tribulation, trouble.

c.       (Exo 1:11,12)  Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses. But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved [distressed] because of the children of Israel.

Amen
