THE ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION, THE GREAT TRIBULATION, OPENING THE 4^TH SEAL, THE RAPTURE… COME AND SEE

(Dan 12:1) And at that time shall Michael [“the archangel”] [1,2,3] stand up [i.e., initiate action], the great prince [Heb: a head person] which standeth for the children of thy people [i.e., that’s us, all believing Christians]: and there shall be a time of trouble [Heb: tribulation] [a period of trouble], such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time [i.e., the Great Tribulation] [4]: and at that time [not at the beginning of “those days should be,” but at the end when the days are “shortened” occurs “for the elect’s sake”] thy people shall be delivered [Heb: be smooth, by implic. escape; rescued, leap out, preserved, be saved] [my association: “five smooth stones” 1 Sam 17:40], every one that shall be found written in the book [“of life from the foundation of the world” Rev 17:8].

1.    (Jude 1:9) Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him [the devil] a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.

2.    (1 Thes 4:16) For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel [the word “archangel” appears only 2x in the Bible, herein it is employed with Jude 1:9 to identify Michael, and is thus a direct contextual reference to Dan 12:1], and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

3.    (1 Thes 4:15-18) For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent [Gk: go before or precede] them which are asleep [Gk: be dead]. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel [now identified as Michael, ref. Dan 12:1; 1 Thes 4:16; Jude 1:9], and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up [Gk: seized: plucked up] [i.e., “raptured”] [a] together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

a.     rapture = Dict: 1. the state of being carried away with joy, love, etc.; ecstasy. 2. an expression of great joy, pleasure, etc.

4.    (Matt 24:15-20) When ye therefore shall see the abomination [a] of desolation [b], spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand [illegally, in the office of the High Priest (with connotations of great pride)] in the holy place [i.e., the most powerful, authorative, influential office in the world, the President of the United States], (whoso readeth, let him understand:) [ref. Dan 12:3] Then [because the 4^th seal is opened] [c] let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house: Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes. And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day [because of religious travel restrictions on the sabbath, indicating that we (Christians) are still here at this time]:

a.     abomination = Gk: detestation, (specif. idolatry) /// (to stink); be disgusting, detestable: abhorrent. [to God… and us]

b.    desolation = Gk: laid waste: (bring to, make) desolate (-ion), come to nought.

                                                             i.      desolation = Dict: 1. waste. 2. lonely grief; misery. 3. loneliness. 4. a desolate place.

                                                          ii.      desolate = Dict: 1. to make desolate; rid of inhabitants. 2. to make unihabitable; lay waste; devastate. 3. to forsake; abandon. 4. to make forlorn, wretched, etc.

                                                       iii.      Commentary: the presence of the abomination of desolation not only indicates the Great Tribulation but also initiates the Great Tribulation, and the concurrent opening of the 4^th seal (Rev 6:7,8). We have been experiencing the first 3 seals (Rev 6:1-6) of tribulation (delusion, wars, famine and pestilence) at least since John said to us “I John, who am also your brother, and companion in tribulation” (Rev 1:9). What then do you think Great (extraordinary) Tribulation actually is?

c.     (Rev 6:7,8) And when he [Jesus] had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see. And I looked, and behold a pale [Gk: greenish] [the color of gangrene] horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him [for the unsaved them, but not for the saved us because we have been forgiven, probably raptured]. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

(Matt 24:21-24) For then [When? Answer: with the advent of “the abomination of desolation”] shall be great tribulation [Gk: (peer and government) pressure: affliction, anguish, burdened, persecution, trouble] [severe pressure to conform: Rom 12:2], such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time [ref. to the prophecy of Dan 12:1 beginning with “such as”], no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened. Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not [i.e., beware of deceivers, liars of “strong delusion” 2 Thes 2:11]. For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets [e.g., the fake news media, politicians], and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect [but that is not possible, because we have God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit dwelling inside us: “behold, the kingdom of God is within you” Luke 17:21].

a.     Commentary: “if it were possible” = in context, the latter phrase is employed as an expression of the absolutely astonishing extremity of constant unrelenting incessant “pressure to conform” (tribulation is not always overt) that is exerted by all pervasive “strong delusion.” The reason why none of the unsaved peoples who unknowingly are suffering under “strong delusion” (a type of mass hypnosis) is that they cannot perceive the truth because they do not know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, and thus have no guide, no Spirit of God within them [but which “is within you” Luke 17:21].

                                                             i.      (John 14:6) Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

(Dan 12:2) And many [but not all; Gideon’s 300 but not Gideon’s 9,700] of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life [at the rapture], and some [at the great white throne judgment] to shame and everlasting contempt [Heb: repulsiveness; an object of adversion: abhorring].

(Dan 12:3) And they that be wise shall shine [Heb: gleam; fig. enlighten: admonish, teach, give warning] as the brightness [Heb: brilliancy] of the firmament [Heb: the expanse (of the sky)]; and they that turn many to righteousness [i.e., win souls to Christ] as the stars [Heb: fig. head persons] for ever and ever.
