God is Thought. The brightness of our revelations depends upon the correctness of our doctrines, our building blocks, our Godly Thoughts laid one upon another, ascending into the mind of Christ.

(Judg 7:1) Then Jerubbaal [Heb: Baal will contend with], who is Gideon [Heb: feller (warrior): to fell a tree /// hew down] [a type and shadow of Jesus Christ], and all the people that were with him [32,000 Israelite warriors (symbolic of professing Christians) who responded to the call to come to church], rose up early [in the morning], and pitched [congregated] beside the well of Harod [Heb: fountain of trembling] [an indication of their lack of faith]: so that the host [Heb: troops: army] of the Midianites [Heb: brawling, contention, discord strife] [135,000 warriors; a type and shadow of all unsaved peoples] were on the north side of them, by the hill of Moreh [Heb: teaching], in the valley.

THE FIRST TEST – FOR BELIEF

(Judg 7:2,3) And the LORD [Heb: Jehovah] said unto Gideon, The people that are with thee [the 32,000 Israelite warriors] are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hands [Heb: power], lest Israel vaunt themselves [Heb: boast themselves, glorify themselves] against me, saying, Mine own hand hath saved me. Now therefore go to, proclaim in the ears of the people, saying, Whosoever is fearful and afraid [i.e., whosoever who does not believe me (God) for the victory], let him return [to his home] and depart early from mount Gilead [Heb: heap of testimony, heap of witness, mound of stones] [a type and shadow of the OT brasen altar of sacrifice and the NT cross]. And there returned [to their homes] of the people twenty and two thousand [22,000 unsaved professing Christians] [a percentage application to the present church?]; and there remained [with Gideon] ten thousand [10,000 saved confessing Christians].

THE SECOND TEST – FOR POSITION

(Judg 7:4)  And the LORD said unto Gideon, The people [the 10,000 saved believers] are yet too many; bring them down unto the water [a running stream separating the valley into two; a type and shadow of the Holy Spirit], and I will try [Heb: to fuse metal, refine: purify, purge] them for thee there: and it shall be, that of whom I say unto thee, This shall go with thee [into the battle], the same shall go with thee; and of whomsoever I say unto thee, This shall not go with thee [into the battle], the same shall not go.

(Judg 7:5) So he [Gideon (Jesus Christ in type, the Bible: John 1:14)] brought down the people [(diminished their pride)] unto the water [of the Holy Spirit (the Bible: Eph 5:26)]: and the LORD said unto Gideon, Every one that lappeth of the water with his tongue, as a dog lappeth, him shalt thou set by himself; likewise [set in another group] every one that boweth down upon his knees to drink.

(Judg 7:6,7) And the number of them that lapped [while watching with their eyes (minding, considering) what was before them; in this instance, the hostile (unsaved) Midianite army on the other side of the stream], putting their hand [ref. the Hand Ministry: Eph 4:10-12 (strengthened by “tongue”)] to their mouth, were three hundred [300 Isrealite] men [300 combat troops]: but all the rest of the people [the 9,700 support troops] bowed down  [Heb: to bend the knee; sink, to prostrate] upon their knees [symbolically paying homage (syn: reverence, respect, tribute, honor, worship) to the hostile (unsaved) Midianite army assembled across the stream by sacrificing their ability to move rapidly and thereby rendering themselves harmless and defenseless, AND, by putting their eyes down toward the water, thus taking their eyes off the enemy] to drink water. And the LORD said unto Gideon, By the three hundred men [the 300 saved combat troops, shepherds that look forward and see] that lapped will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into thine hand [Heb: power]: and let all the other people [the 9,700 saved support troops, sheep that look downward and do not see] go every man unto his place [“unto his tent” v.8, versus the 22,000 unbelieving professing Christians who “returned” v.3 from whence they came].

(Judg 7:8) So the people [the 300 combat troops] took victuals [Heb: food] [supplied by the 9,700 support troops (there was Great Tribulation (famine) in the land: Judg 6:1-6)] in their hand [Heb: power] [in the sense that they were empowered by the support troops (the congregation)], and their trumpets [symbolic of the  congregational sheep voices of encouragement]: and he sent all the rest of Israel [the 9,700 support troops] every man unto his tent, and retained [“rapturing” with the fullness of the Spirit] those three hundred men: and the host of Midian was beneath him in the valley [“of decision” Joel 3:12-14].

1.    retained = Heb: to fasten upon; seized, be strong (strengthened, cured, helped, repaired, fortified): encouraged, mend, be sure, become (wax) mighty, made strong, behave self valiantly.

(Judg 7:16) And he [Gideon] divided the three hundred men [300] into three companies [God the Father, Son, and Holy Stirit], and he put a trumpet [Heb: sho-far; a ram’s horn] [symbolizing the power of God, the trump of God, the Bible] in every man's hand [Heb: power], with empty pitchers [Heb: earthenware jars] [baked clay vessels symbolizing their bodies], and lamps [Heb: flaming torches] [a type and shadow of the Holy Spirit] within the pitchers [with a drainage hole in the bottom of each pitcher].

(Judg 7:17,18) And he said unto them, Look on me, and do likewise: and, behold, when I come to the outside of the [Midianite] camp, it shall be that, as I do, so shall ye do [(in the present and in prophecy)]. When I blow with a trumpet [speak the Word of God], I and all [the angels] that are with me, then blow ye the trumpets also on every side of all the camp, and say, The sword of the LORD [(the Holy Spirit)], and of Gideon [(Jesus Christ)].

1.    (Gen 3:24) So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword [the Holy Spirit] which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life [Jesus Christ].

2.    (Eph 6:17) And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the [Holy] Spirit [of God], which is the word of God [the Bible, Jesus Christ: John 1:14]:

3.    (Rev 19:15) And out of his [Jesus Christ’s] mouth goeth a sharp sword [the Holy Spirit], that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

THE SECOND COMING OF JESUS CHRIST

(Judg 7:19-22) So Gideon [Jesus Christ], and the hundred men that were with him, came unto the outside of the [Midianite] camp in the beginning of the middle watch [about 10:00 pm]; and they [the Midianite guards] had but newly set the watch [and were understandably jumpy]: and they [Gideon’s Israelites] blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers that were in their hands. And the three companies blew the trumpets, and brake [completely shattered] the pitchers [the earthenware clay jars (their bodies)], and held the lamps [Heb: flaming torches] [previously hidden inside their pitchers (bodies)] in their left hands, and [held] the trumpets in their right hands to blow withal [thereby completely exposing the fullness of the Holy Spirit (flaming fire)]: and they cried, The sword of the LORD [i.e., the fullness of the Holy Spirit], and of Gideon. And they stood every man in his [assigned] place round about [surrounding] the camp: and all the [Midianite] host ran, and cried, and fled. And the three hundred blew the trumpets, and the LORD set every [Midianite] man's sword against his fellow, even throughout all the [Midianite] host: and the host [the remaining 15,000 Midianite warriors] fled to Bethshittah [Heb: house of acacia (thorns)] in Zererath [Heb: piercing], and to the border of Abelmeholah [Heb: meadow of dancing] [(as if burning on fire)], unto Tabbath.

COMMENCING THE 1,000 YEAR MILLENNIUM

(Judg 7:23) And the [saved] men of Israel gathered themselves together out of Naphtali, and out of Asher, and out of all Manasseh, and pursued [Heb: hunted] after the [15,000 remaining] Midianites.

(Jer 16:16) Behold, I will send for many fishers, saith the LORD, and they shall fish them; and after will I send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain, and from every hill, and out of the holes of the rocks.
