THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS WITHIN YOU

(Luke 17:20,21) And when he [Jesus] was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation [Gk: ocular evidence]: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God [an interchangeable phrase with “the kingdom of heaven” Matt 19:23,24] is within you [Gk: inside you].

PATIENCE (forbearance)

(Luke 21:19) In your patience [Gk: cheerful (or hopeful) endurance: waiting] [versus impatience] possess [Gk: acquire: purchase] ye your souls [Gk: (your) spirit].

1.    Commentary: forbearance is a synonym for patience, to forbear = Dict: 1. to refrain from; avoid or cease (doing, saying, etc). 2. to endure; tolerate. 3. to keep oneself in check; control oneself under provocation. [i.e., tribulation, like what is happening now, and very soon, Great Tribulation]

2.    (Luke 21:19 Amplif.) By your steadfastness and patient endurance you shall win the true life of your souls.

3.    (Luke 21:19 NIV) By standing firm you will gain life.

4.    Commentary: Dake’s Annotated Reference Bible = By patient endurance you shall keep your souls in harmony with God and thus be saved.

(Luke 9:23-25) And he [Jesus] said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself [deny his earthly natural sinful inclinations], and take up his cross daily, and follow me [Jesus went to Heaven]. For whosoever will save his life [who will follow himself, i.e., follow his own ways] shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake [who will forsake his own ways and follow the Gospel (originally The Way) and Me], the same shall save it. For what is a man advantaged [Gk: benefited], if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?

1.    Commentary: “and take up his cross daily” = calls for the daily sacrifice of his precious allotted life-time to bear the weight (guilt-confession) of his own cross while focusing his thoughts and actions upon the cross of forgiveness, and receiving the godly impact of his sins being nailed to that wooden cross, unto death (i.e., unto transition, unto translation, unto complete transformation).

2.    (Mark 8:34-36)  And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save [Gk: deliver: heal, make whole] his life [through his own efforts] shall lose it [Gk: (be) destroyed fully, perish: die]; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it. For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

3.    Commentary: The Nelson Study Bible = It makes no sense to attempt to save our lives on earth only to lose everything when our lives quickly and inevitably pass away. The wise course is to invest our earthly resources – our time, talents, and wealth – in what is eternal. Even if we lose our lives for Jesus’ sake, that investment will produce returns for all eternity.

IN THAT DAY

(Isa 12:1-3) And in that day [the day of the Lord Jesus Christ’s second coming, “in us” Luke 17:20,21 & Rom 8:18,19 & 2 Thes 1:4-12] thou shalt say, O LORD, I will praise thee: though thou wast angry with me [for opposing God, i.e., for sinning against God], thine anger is turned away, and thou comfortedst me. Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation [Heb: something saved, delivered; victory, prosperity: health]. Therefore with joy shall ye [(collectively)] draw water [Heb: to bale up water] [water is a type and shadow of the Holy Spirit] out of the wells of salvation [each well containing the waters of revelations].

(Isa 12:4-6) And in that day [the day of the Lord’s second coming, commencing the 1,000 years Millennium] shall ye say, Praise the LORD, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted. Sing unto the LORD; for he hath done excellent things: this is known in all the earth. Cry out and shout [1] [THE COMMAND], thou [saved] inhabitant of [mount] Zion [the NT fulfillment (antitype) of which the OT mount Sinai is a type and shadow]: for great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of thee [ref. Luke 17:20,21].

1.    (Judg 7:17,18)) And he [Gideon = Heb: feller (warrior) /// to fell a tree: hew down] [a type and shadow of Jesus Christ] said unto them [unto His chosen 300 warriors (combat soldiers, shepherds) THE PROPHETIC COMMAND with a present emphatic “NOW” application], Look [Heb: consider, discern, take heed, X joyfully] on me, and do likewise: and, behold, when I come to the outside of the camp [of the 135,000 enemy Midianites = Heb: brawling, contentious, discord, strife] [i.e., a type and shadow of unsaved peoples], it shall be that, as I do, so shall ye do. When I blow with a trumpet [preach, teach the Word of God], I and all that are with me, then blow ye the trumpets [loudly] also on every side of all the camp, and say [i.e., loudly proclaim, preach, teach], The sword [“the word of God” Eph 6:17] of the LORD [Heb: Jehovah], and of Gideon [i.e., an Old Testament type and shadow of Jesus Christ].

a.     (Eph 6:17) And take the helmet of salvation [i.e., the protective covering of your Godly thoughts], and the sword of the [Holy] Spirit [of God], which is the word of God:

                                                             i.      Commentary: Jesus Christ (John 1:14) is the Sword of the Lord with the Holy Spirit (revelations – the kingdom of God/Heaven) within (inside) Him. You are the Sword of the Lord.
