(Luke 15:17-19) And when he came to himself [when he was finally “in his right mind” Mark 5:15; Luke 8:35], he said, How many hired servants [1] of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hungerI will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.

1.    Commentary: “hired servants” = persons who serve for money (for what they can get) rather than serve for love (for what they can give), i.e., phileo love (fond friendship) rather than agapao love (sacrificial dedication).

(Luke 15:20) And he arose [Gk: to stand up (right)], and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off [in intimacy (understanding and love)], his father saw him, and had compassion [Gk: to have the bowels yearn, (fig.) feel sympathy, pity /// tender mercy], and ran [to him], and fell on [Gk: embraced] his neck, and kissed him [the father literally attached Himself to the son]

(1 Thes 4:13-18) But I would not have you to be ignorant [Gk: not to know: not understand], brethren [Gk: brothers] [saved children of God], concerning them which are asleep [Gk: are dead], that ye sorrow [Gk: grieve] not, even as others [Gk: those that remain] which have no hope [Gk: no (clear) expectation] [“beyond the grave” Amplified Bible]. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep [Gk: are dead] in Jesus will God bring with him [i.e., with Jesus]. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord [i.e., by absolute verification], that we which are alive and remain unto the [second] coming [i.e., Jesus first came in Mary (Heb: rebellious); Jesus is coming again “in us”] of the Lord [Jesus Christ “which shall be revealed in us” Rom 8:18] shall not prevent [Gk: precede] them [the saved children of God] which are asleep [Gk: are dead][1] For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout [Gk: a cry of incitement /// (an) order: command] [“with a loud cry of summons” Amplif.] [2], with the voice of the archangel [Gk: chief angel] [“Michael the archangel” Jude 1:9], and with the trump [trumpet] of God [i.e., the Bible]: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up [Gk: seized: plucked (up)] together with them [for “they without us should not be made perfect” Heb: 11:40] in the clouds [i.e., in the armies of God], to meet [Gk: encounter] the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

1.    (Heb 11:39,40) And these [heros and heroines of faith] all [the Old Testament Saints], having obtained [having “won divine approval” Amplif.] a good report [of their life-style] through faith [Gk: belief], received not the promise [“the fulfillment of what was promised” Amplif.]: God having provided [Gk: furnished in advance] [pre-ordained] some better thing [Gk: stronger, nobler] [i.e., the indwelling Holy Spirit] for us, that they without us should not be made perfect [Gk: complete, (lit.) accomplished, consummate (in character): consecrated, finished, fufilled]

2.    incitement = synonyms: provocation, stimulation, goad, spur, motivation.

(Gen 19:15-17) And when the morning arose [in Sodom, i.e., no more darkness], then the angels hastened [Heb: hurried] Lot [Heb: a veil: covering], saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity [Heb: perversity, moral evil] of the cityAnd while he lingered [Heb: hesitated, was reluctant: delayed], the men laid hold upon [Heb: fastened (onto), seized] his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful [Heb: compassionate] unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without [Heb: outside] the city. And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed

1.    (2 Pet 2:6-8) And turning the cities of Sodom [the archetype of false doctrine] and Gomorrha [the archetype of false works] into ashes condemned [Gk: judged against: damned] them with an overthrow [Gk: an overturn, “catastrophe”: demolition] [i.e., thermo-nuclear war], making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly; And delivered [Gk: rescued] just [Gk: righteous] Lot [Heb: a veil: covering], vexed [Gk: wear down with toil, (fig.) harassed: oppressed /// anguished, pained] with the filthy conversation [Gk: behavior] of the wicked [Gk: lawless, criminal (behavior)]: (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day [exactly as modern today] with their unlawful deeds;)

(Dan 12:1-3) And at that time [“of he end” Amplif.] shall Michael [“Michael the archangel” Jude 1:9] stand up [Heb: arise] [into action, i.e., express power], the great prince [Heb: head person (of any rank or class)] which standeth for [“who defends and has charge of” Amplif.] the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble [Heb: tribulation] [i.e., Great Tribulation], such as never was [initiated by thermo-nuclear war] since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered [Heb: rescued: saved], every one that shall be found written in the book [of Life]. And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contemptAnd they that be wise shall shine [Heb: gleam; (fig.) enlighten: admonish, teach, give warnings] as the brightness [Heb: brilliancy] of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness [i.e., win souls to Christ] as the stars [angels] for ever and ever
