THE CHRIST GENERATION AND THEIR SIGN

The brightness of our revelations depend upon the correctness of our doctrines (our building blocks)

(Psa 22:29-31)  All they that be fat upon earth shall eat and worship: all they that go down to the dust [the unregenerated, unsaved] shall bow before him: and none can keep alive his own soul. A seed shall serve him; it shall be accounted [Heb: counted, reckoned] to the Lord for a generation [Heb: a revolution of time, an age or generation]. They shall come, and shall declare his righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that he hath done this.

1.     Commentary: What people “shall come”? What people “shall declare his righteousness”? Answer: us, and those of the Christ generation who preceded us and those of the Christ generation who will follow us, Christ-ians.

(Mat 1:1-11)  The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. Abraham [1] begat Isaac [2]; and Isaac begat Jacob [3]; and Jacob begat Judas [4] and his brethren; And Judas begat Phares [5] and Zara of Thamar; and Phares begat Esrom [6]; and Esrom begat Aram [7]; And Aram begat Aminadab [8]; and Aminadab begat Naasson [9]; and Naasson begat Salmon [10]; And Salmon begat Booz [11] of Rachab; and Booz begat Obed [12] of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse [13]; And Jesse begat David [14] the king [14 GENERATIONS] [**1**]; and David the king begat Solomon [1] of her that had been the wife of Urias; And Solomon begat Roboam [2]; and Roboam begat Abia [3]; and Abia begat Asa [4]; And Asa begat Josaphat [5]; and Josaphat begat Joram [6]; and Joram begat Ozias [7]; And Ozias begat Joatham [8]; and Joatham begat Achaz [9]; and Achaz begat Ezekias [10]; And Ezekias begat Manasses [11]; and Manasses begat Amon [12]; and Amon begat Josias [13]; And Josias begat Jechonias [14] and his brethren, about the time they were carried away to Babylon [14 GENERATIONS] [**2**]:

(Mat 1:12-16)  And after they were brought to Babylon, Jechonias begat Salathiel [1]; and Salathiel begat Zorobabel [2]; And Zorobabel begat Abiud [3]; and Abiud begat Eliakim [4]; and Eliakim begat Azor [5]; And Azor begat Sadoc [6]; and Sadoc begat Achim [7]; and Achim begat Eliud [8]; And Eliud begat Eleazar [9]; and Eleazar begat Matthan [10]; and Matthan begat Jacob [11]; And Jacob begat Joseph [12] the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus [13], who is called Christ [14] [14 GENERATIONS]. [**3**]

(Mat 1:17)  So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations [**1**]; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations [**2**]; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations [**3**].

1.     “So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations;”

2.     “and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations;”

3.     “and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.”

4.     Christ = anointed /// through the idea of contact; to smear or rub with oil, (by implic.) to consecrate to an office or religious service: anoint.

5.     Commentary: Each generation is “seed” from the previous generation. The generation of Jesus is the thirteenth generation; the generation of Christ is the fourteenth generation (“A seed shall serve him” Psa 22:30). The generation of Christ began when Jesus was baptized with the fullness of the Holy Spirit in the river Jordan and became Jesus the Christ.

Commentary: First fact, we have clearly established, by carefully counting the genealogical record in the Bible, that there is indeed a “Christ generation.” What and who is the “Christ generation”? We who are saved (born again) are the Christ generation. In types and shadows we are, presently in this life, biblically represented by Jesus the son of Joseph who is the man Jesus, the carpenter before he became the Christ Jesus. Jesus the man became Jesus the Christ upon the show of His anointing with the fullness of the Holy Spirit in the river Jordan when Jesus “began to be about thirty years of age” (Luke 3:23 & Gen 41:46, Num 4:47), whereupon He then immediately became Jesus the Christ, called Jesus Christ. Please note that as the man Jesus without the fully activated Holy Spirit [i.e., no miracles, telepathy, teleportation, telekinesis], so then are we now who have been given the earnest [Gk: a pledge, part of the purchase money or property given in advance as security for the rest] of the Spirit in our hearts.” (2 Cor 1:22 & 2 Cor 5:5; Eph 1:14). In a perhaps related but interesting finding, scientists have concluded that we are currently now using only approximately 10% of our brain.

THE SIGN (MIRACLE) MINISTERED TO THE CHRIST GENERATION (US)

THAT WE MAY MINISTER IT TO OTHERS

(Mat 12:38-40)  Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees [in the midst of the people] answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign [Gk: miracle, wonder] from thee. But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation [a description of unregenerated, unsaved people] seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but [Gk: except] the sign of the prophet Jonah: For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth [i.e., we were formed “of the dust of the ground (Heb: earth)” Gen 2:7].

1.     Commentary: “three days and three nights” signifies the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ from “in the whale’s belly… in the heart of the earth” (Mat 12:40), and resurrected “out of the belly of hell” (Jonah 2:2).

2.     (Jonah 1:17)  Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.

3.     (Jonah 2:1-10)  Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish's belly, And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction [Heb: tribulations] unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice. For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me. Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple. The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head. I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God. When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple. They that observe [follow] lying vanities forsake [abandon, disown] their own mercy. But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD. And the LORD spake unto the fish, and it vomited out [a type and shadow of “the resurrection”] Jonah upon the dry land.

a.     vanities = Heb: emptiness or vanity; fig. something transitory and unsatisfactory /// to be vain; specifically to lead astray.

THE SIGN (MIRACLE)

(John 3:3-5)  Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily [Gk: truth], verily [Gk: truth], I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see [Gk: understand] the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

(Rom 10:9,10)  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

1.     (Ezek 36:25-28)  Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit [the Spirit of God] within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them. And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God.

Amen
