The depth of our revelations depends upon the correctness of our doctrine

WITNESSES UNTO ME

(Act 1:8-11) But ye [all regenerated members of humanity] shall receive power [Gk: force; specifically miraculous power], after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me [1 (see - behold)] both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. And when he [Jesus] had spoken these things, while they beheld [2 (see - behold)], he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. And while they looked stedfastly [3 (see - behold)] toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men [two angels] stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee [by extension, all saved humanity], why stand ye gazing up [4 (see - behold)] into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come [His Second Coming] in like manner [i.e., from inside a human body] as ye have seen [5 (see - behold)] him go into heaven.

  1. Commentary: “be witnesses unto me” = be able to accurately recall and relate specific instances, occurrences, and events pertaining to a specific subject, in this case, specifically Jesus Christ.

  2. Commentary: “in like manner as ye have seen him…” = as ye have seen Him from the beginning, for we have seen Him assending into heaven from the womb of Mary, a continuous witness.

  3. Mary = Heb: Miriam; rebelliously /// bitterness, rebellion. [a representation of all unregenerated humanity; perhaps the nicest sinner, but nevertheless a redeemed sinner]

(Rom 8:16-19) The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together [with Him]. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory [His glory] which shall be revealed [Gk: to take off the cover, disclosed] in us [2 Thes 1:7,10,12]. For the earnest expectation [Gk: intense anticipation] of the creature [us] waiteth for the manifestation [Gk: disclosure: appearing, coming, revelation] of the sons of God.

JOHN BARE WITNESS OF HIM…” (John 1:15)

(Luke 1:5-17) There was in the days of Herod [Gk: heroic /// sight] [i.e., the king of sight vs. the King of Faith], the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course [the rotation of the service of the priests] of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth. And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless. And they had no child, because that Elisabeth was barren [Heb: sterile], and they both were now well stricken in years. And it came to pass, that while he executed the priest's office before God in the order of his course, According to the custom of the priest's office, his lot was to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord. And the whole multitude of the people were praying without [outside the temple] at the time of incense [9:00 am and 3:00 pm every day]. And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense [symbolic of prayer, praise, and worship]. And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him. But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John [Heb: Jehovah-favored]. And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth. For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink [no intoxicants]; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb. [Luke 1:16,17; Mal 4:6] And many of the children of Israel shall he turn [Gk: convert] to the Lord their God. And he shall go before him [i.e., before the Lord] in the spirit and power of Elijah [a mighty prophet renown for miracles and a school of prophets], to turn [Gk: convert] the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just [Gk: holy: righteous]; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

  1. (Mal 4:1-6) For, behold, the day [of the Lord] cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble [Joel 2:5; 1 Cor 3:12]: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch. But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall. And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the LORD of hosts. [THE FINAL TWO COMMANDS OF THE OLD TESTAMENT ARE, REMEMBER & BEHOLD (SEE – Acts 1:8-11):] Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments. Behold [Heb: see], I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great [for us – the saved: Joel 2:2] and dreadful [for them – the unsaved: Joel 2:2] day of the LORD: [Mal 4:6; Luke 1:16,17] And he shall turn [Heb: convert] the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.

(Luke 1:18-20) And Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years. And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel [Heb: man of God], that stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings. And, behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.

(Luke 1:21-25) And the people waited for Zacharias, and marvelled that he tarried so long in the temple. And when he came out, he could not speak unto them: and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple: for he beckoned unto them, and remained speechless. And it came to pass, that, as soon as the days of his ministration were accomplished, he departed to his own house. And after those days his wife Elisabeth conceived, and hid herself five months, saying, Thus hath the Lord dealt with me in the days wherein he looked on me, to take away my reproach [Gk: notoriety, a taunt (disgrace)] among men.

(Luke 1:26,27) And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, To a virgin espoused [Gk: betrothed (engaged)] to a man whose name was Joseph [Heb: let him add, adding] [the (virtually) perfect type and shadow of Jesus Christ in the O.T.], of the house of David [the lineage of Jesus]; and the virgin's name was Mary.

(Luke 1:28-33) And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

(Luke 1:34-38) Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren. For with God nothing shall be impossible. And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word [Gk: rhema] [i.e., her perception is a proof of her salvation]. And the angel departed from her.
