(Mark 8:22-25)  And he cometh to Bethsaida [fishing-house]; and they bring a blind [opaque, (by anal.) blind (physically or mentally)] man unto him, and besought him to touch him. And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought. And he looked up [with spiritual eyes], and said, I see men as trees, walking. After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up [with natural eyes]: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.

(Gen 2:9)  And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

(Gen 2:16,17)  And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

1.       Commentary: What other possibilities may be inferred from this statement? What if Adam and Woman had eaten of the tree of life first, and then eaten of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil; or had not ever eaten of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, etc.?

(Gen 3:22-24)  And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever: Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till [to work; to serve] the ground from whence he was taken. So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword [the Bible: “the word of God” Heb 4:12; Eph 6:17] which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

THE TREE OF THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD AND EVIL

(Gen 4:1,2)  And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD. And she again bare his brother Abel [emptiness or vanity]. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground [the curse placed upon Adam: Gen 3:17-19].

1.       Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible: Cain = Heb: a lance (as striking fast): spear.

2.       Nelson’s Illustrated Bible Dictionary: Cain = Heb: possessed.

3.       Commentary: see “The Ancestry of Goliath’s Spear” on our website delivered 11-07-04.

(Gen 4:25)  And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth [substituted]: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel [“a keeper of sheep” Gen 4:2], whom Cain slew.

THE TREE OF LIFE

(Prov 3:13-18)  Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding. For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her. Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth [holds] her.

(Prov 11:30)  The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise [What wisdom, what understanding is there here? What message? What is “the fruit of the righteous”?].

(Prov 15:4)  A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness [distortion, i.e. (fig.) viciousness] therein is a breach in the spirit.

(Rev 2:7)  He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh [to subdue:--conquer, overcome, prevail, get the victory] will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God [Gen 2:9].
