(Isa 9:6,7)  For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice [established on the Law] from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

(Mat 1:18-25)  Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. Then Joseph her husband, being a just [Gk: holy, righteous] man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily [Gk: privately]. But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS [Heb: Jehovah is salvation]: for he shall save his people from their sins. Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: And knew her not [in the physically intimate sense] till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

(Mat 2:1,2)  Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem [Heb: house of bread] of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem , Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.

1.       Herod = Gk: heroic /// a view, i.e. form:--appearance, fashion, shape, sight.

2.       Commentary: “God is a spirit” (John 4:24) and “the invisible God” ( Col 1:15), as is Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, the angels (good and bad), and us, i.e., the reality of us. We are thought creatures, spirits, composed entirely of invisible thoughts temporarily imprisoned in fleshly bodies. Herod represented the king of the flesh (sight) when Jesus was born the king of faith,. Faith is invisible. “(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)” (2 Cor 5:7). Sight and faith are opposing belief systems. Historically, Herod was an evil man who murdered his own sons and his wife. Herod, King of the Jews, was not at all pleased to hear of the coming of this child who was prophesied to be King of the Jews.

3.       Commentary: “there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem ” = figuratively speaking, all wise men come from the east with their sins to the only gate/door of the Tabernacle (the house of forgiveness) which faces east. What two gifts did God give Moses on Mount Sinai ? The gift of the Law which will kill you, and the gift of the pattern of the Tabernacle which will save you; the Law condemns, the Tabernacle forgives. These are the two gifts of Law and Grace.

(Mat 2:3-6)  When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born. And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet, And thou Bethlehem , in the land of Juda , art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel .

(Mat 2:7-10)  Then Herod, when he had privily [Gk: privately] called the wise men, inquired of them diligently what time the star appeared. And he sent them to Bethlehem , and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also. When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.

1.       Commentary: “the star” = a star is an angel clothed in the glory of God.

(Mat 2:11)  And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.

1.       gold = A pure metal, it never tarnishes, representing God the Father. The gifts of revelation which are the mind gifts. These three gifts are the “Urim” (Heb: lights) inside the body of Christ. These are the “Lights” of the mind in the body of Christ.

  1.   “the word of wisdom”

  2.   “the word of knowledge”

  3. “discerning of spirits”

2.       frankincense = Derived from a tree, representing God the Son. The vocal gifts having to so with hearing. These three gifts and the following three gifts are the “Thummim” (Heb: perfections) inside the body of Christ. These are the “Perfections” because they are for the perfection of the body of Christ.

  1. “prophecy”

  2.  “divers kinds of tongues”

  3. “interpretation of tongues”

3.       myrrh = Derived from a tree, representing God the Holy Spirit. The gifts of power are working gifts. These three gifts and the latter three gifts are the “Thummim” (Heb: perfections) inside the body of Christ. These are the “Perfections” because they are for the perfection of the body of Christ.

  1. “gifts of healing”

  2.  “the working of miracles”

  3. “faith”

4.       Commentary: for interested disciples seeking a deeper more comprehensive understanding of God, these three gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh together represent the 9 gifts of the Spirit in three categories, each category containing three gifts (1 Cor 12:7-11). A greatly expanded explanation may be found on our website www.tabernacleofmoses.org located in our book “WARNING: Hazardous To Your Natural Man” chapter 9, entitled “Dark Sayings.

(Mat 2:12-15)  And being warned of God in a dream [1st dream] that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way. And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream [2nd dream], saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt , and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him. When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt: And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son [i.e., out of the world – and where then shall we who are in Christ go?].

1.       (Job 33:14,15)  For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed; [and when else?]

(Mat 2:16-18)  Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked [“deceived” NKJV; “outwitted” NIV] of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children [“male children” NKJV; “boys” NIV] that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men. Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not.

(Mat 2:19-23)  But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth in a dream [3rd dream] to Joseph in Egypt , Saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel : for they are dead which sought the young child's life. And he arose, and took the young child and his mother, and came into the land of Israel . But when he heard that Archelaus did reign in Judaea in the room of his father Herod, he was afraid to go thither: notwithstanding, being warned of God in a dream [4th dream], he turned aside into the parts of Galilee: And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth [Aramaic: watchtower]: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene.

Amen
